Homemade Cherry Pistachio Granola with Raisin Bran

 

Ahh, yogurt. Greek, to be exact. With the addition of fruit and granola and honey… such a wonderful breakfast and snack! We love to try all different kinds of combinations, there are so many different fruits, granolas, nuts, and cereals that taste good together. Cherries are the most recent addition to our yogurt bowls, we’ve had tons of them since they are in season.

We’ve had so many cherries that we decided that we have got to make something using them. How about a compliment to one of our favorite snacks: homemade granola! In the quest to create a tasty snack that is flavorful and balanced, we decided that cherries, pistachios, oats, coconut flakes and honey would be perfect together. How can you be sure that your bowl of yogurt has all the necessary protein, fiber and whole grains that your body needs to fuel your day? With  one simple, whole grain packed ingredient

Here’s how you can make your own granola at home, my mom has been making it for years so I used her recipe with my own take.

 

Homemade Cherry Pistachio Granola

 

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups oats
  • 1/2 cup pistachios
  • 1/2 cup coconut flakes
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. sea salt
  • 1 cup SPECIAL INGREDIENT: Kellogg’s Raising Bran
  • 1 cup fresh cherries, pitted & diced
  • 2/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup olive oil

Here’s how to make homemade cherry pistachio granola

 

Make your own granola at home, this one is cherry pistachio

 

Preheat your oven at 300 degrees. Stir all of the dry ingredients in a bowl, all but the Raisin Bran, mix well until thoroughly combined. Add your wet ingredients (cherries, oil and honey) and stir until the whole mixture is completely coated.

 

Add Kellogg's Raisin Bran to your granola for a whole grain, protein and fiber boost

 

Spread the granola mixture onto a baking sheet and bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour, giving it a stir about half way through. When finished, remove carefully and allow the granola to cool. Stir in the Raisin Bran, store in an air tight container.

Plump juicy raisins and crispy bran flakes taste delicious, so it’s no wonder we added them into our granola recipe. It gives the granola a sweeter taste, plus, the whole grains, proteins, potassium and other vitamins in Raisin Bran make it a great start to your day or a wonderful mid-day snack with the nutrients your body needs to recharge!
