A DIY natural wood floor cleaner
Spring has sprung, and that means some good ol’ spring cleaning is underway! I know that we all love to clean, don’t we? Well, not really, but it has to be done and the O-Cedar EasyWring™ Spin Mop & Bucket System makes it super simple to get our wood floors cleaned quickly and easily!
The best spin mop for wood floors
Want to start cleaning and disinfecting your home the natural way? It’s necessary to tread lightly on our planet, and this mop system has reusable parts, which is great for the environment. Our DIY orange natural wood floor cleaner recipe uses natural ingredients, cleans both hardwood and laminate floors, and smells amazing. The two together = undefeated!
DIY Orange Natural Wood Floor Cleaner
Ingredients:
- 1 gallon warm water
- 2 cups white vinegar
- 1 heaping tablespoon coconut oil
- 10 drops orange essential oil (or tangerine, that’s my favorite)
- 5 drops tea tree oil
Step 1: Make the homemade wood floor cleaner
First things first – you have to buy the O-Cedar EasyWring™ Spin Mop & Bucket System. Ok? Now that we have that out of the way…
Making this orange floor cleaner concoction is very easy. Pour your water into the O-Cedar mop bucket and stir in coconut oil until it melts. Add the white vinegar, orange oil, and tea tree oil drops and mix until combined. Now you’re ready to mop!
Step 2: Soak the O’Cedar wood floor mop and spin to wring it out
Douse the mop head into the water and wring it out, as shown below. This mop head is made of microfiber and is triangular in shape, making it super easy to get a good deep clean in those hard-to-reach areas, which means every corner is covered!
Step 3: Mop those wood floors!
Finally, it’s time to mop! Go ahead and clean those floors the natural way with our essential oil wood floor cleaner. The orange oil smells absolutely amazing and we love knowing that our floors are clean and chemical-free every time.
I think the coolest thing about the O’Cedar EasyWring™ Spin Mop & Bucket System is the hands-free wringer. By pressing the foot pedal, the spinning bucket wrings out the mop quickly and conveniently without having to bend down to squeeze it out. Less water on the mop means faster drying floors, and less effort means I can be finished cleaning and get on with my day! See how it works in this short video I made here:

Is this solution only good for solid wood? What should I change to make it suitable for laminate or even linoleum?
Does the coconut oil leave a residue? Does the vinegar break it down in a way that it doesn’t solidify again? I love the idea of using this on our bamboo floors.
Vinegar evaporates, but I’d be more concerned about the coconut oil solidifying. It should absorb in solid wood, but unsure about other flooring.
Good mop. I also use it regularly.
We love it!
