Halloween cookie pops recipe
I came up with the cutest sweet treat idea for Halloween! MJ’s school is gearing up for a Fall carnival and I wanted to contribute to the kindergarten booth with some cute and spooky treats.
Now I know that cake pops are all the rage, but why not twist it up a bit and use Oreo cookies instead? These easy Halloween treats take much less time, and no cake prep involved, you can just insert the stick, dip, and decorate!

How to make Halloween OREO Pops
This Oreo pops recipe is one of our favorite foods for Halloween. Here is what you need to make these Halloween-themed cookies:
Ingredients you’ll need for:
- Candy Melts: orange, brown, and white (I used Wilton Candy Melts)
- 1 package Double Stuf Oreo Cookies
- Lollipop Sticks, 4 inch
- plastic zipper bags
- ribbon (optional)
First of all, if you decide to employ a helper, choose wisely. I had to fire my help, he kept eating the darn Oreos and sticking his little fingers in the chocolate. Discipline, people! You have been warned.
Let’s make these Oreo cookie pops!
Slowly push a lollipop stick into the center of each Oreo’s cream. Make sure you push it the majority of the way through, almost to the top.
Melt the candy according to package directions. DO NOT overheat, it will clump. Carefully spoon the melted candy onto each Oreo, spreading evenly on each side with the back of the spoon. If you can dip, go for it, but it never works for me 🙂
I used a cardboard box as a stand and poked holes in it to store each pop upright as I went along. At this point, you would decorate your Oreo pop based upon the color of candy melt you used:
To make the pumpkin Oreo pops:
The orange-dipped Halloween Oreo pops will be used for pumpkins. After dipping, use a toothpick to draw the lines of the pumpkin onto the Oreo.
Halloween ghost cookie pops:
These will be dipped in the white candy melts. The face will be drawn with black frosting.
Monster Oreos on a stick:
These are the brown/chocolate-dipped Oreos, using white frosting for the face.
Once you have dipped them all, pop the whole box and stand in the freezer for 5 minutes to harden the candy shell. Remove from the freezer and lay each Oreo pop on a sheet of wax paper or a clean countertop.
Grab your zipper bag and make a tiny snip in one of the lower corners. TINY! Fill it with the desired melted candy color of your choice and pipe on the faces of each Oreo pop.
Pipe your favorite faces with frosting
Once you have finished all of the faces, put them back upright into the box stand and freeze again for 5 minutes to harden the candy faces. Note: On the ghost’s faces, I used a black gel frosting that will not harden. I recommend using the brown candy melts, the same as the ones used for the pumpkin’s faces. The gel still works, but it will smudge.
Tie them up with Halloween ribbon
Once they have set, tie pretty little ribbons around their necks and admire! I used a short vase filled with candy corn to display these Halloween Oreo pops, such a festive look. To give them out as gifts or favors, you can cover them in slim cellophane favor bags first, then tie them on with the ribbon. Feel free to try one for yourself, they are delish!
Enjoy these Halloween Oreo cookie pops!
We hope you love making these Oreo pops for Halloween! This has turned into one of our favorite Halloween cookie ideas.
